Getting organized: Front entrance hallway - Stools & Benches

We live in a multi level townhouse and our entrance is very very narrow. I've known since we moved in that getting our entrance to function well was going to take some thought and creativity. There's no room for a regular adult size bench due to the narrowness of the hallway but I needed at least a small bench for my son to sit and put on his shoes. I was pleased to find this new item at Ikea last week. It's the perfect size for him to sit and a very sturdy piece for the great price of $19.99.

Had we had the space this is the full size bench I had planned on purchasing but even this slim bench would take up too much room.

Once my son gets a little bigger I think I'll switch up this low footstool bench for something like this so we can all have a place to sit to put on our shoes. Unfortunately for now, due to space, it's one or the other and he's not quite big enough to climb onto something like this on his own.

I like that the last few options here come in fun colors...they're strong enough for adults and still kid friendly.

My tip of the week: Chalkboard paint = a fresh start

Do you want to give your child's bedroom a bit of a makeover without spending $$$? Try chalkboard paint! Paint a door, a wall or just a board and not only give their space a new modern look but also a way to express themselves. It makes a great outlet when the kids start getting cabin fever during these cold winter months. Take a look at these spaces for inspiration:

You can purchase chalkboard paint at most home hardware stores. Benjamin Moore has chalkboard paints and a full how to use chalkboard paint article right here. Also, if you're interested they have a list of creative ideas for chalkboard paint uses here.

I have the P'Kolino products mentioned above (table, toy box & easel) and we use them all! All the chalkboard surfaces give each product dual if not triple purposes. The extra storage in the table is a real plus and the easel being made specifically at a height for little ones make these all great finds. I recommend them all!

Friday Fabulous Finds: Plush kid's chairs

My son had received this Sesame Street plush chair for his first birthday and really liked it however for Christmas he also received this Thomas plush pull out couch.

This "couch" is great especially for older and bigger toddlers/kids. It's fun to sit on, pull out to sleep on, jump on or even make forts with!

I definitely recommend this item if you have a 18 month- 4 year old to buy for.
